Tashkent, Uzbekistan ( — The Embassy of the Republic of Uzbekistan in Spain presented a presentation of our country at the International Gastronomic Festival in the Spanish city of Fresno de la Vega, Dunyo news agency reported.

It presented folk art, Uzbek national cuisine, information about the historical and cultural heritage of our country and its tourism potential.

The festive pilaf for the guests of the event was prepared directly on the central square of the city in a large open-air cauldron. Its preparation was closely watched by festival participants and European media journalists. The finished dish caused a real delight among the audience, at the request of which the representatives of the Embassy of Uzbekistan held a special master class on the preparation of this dish.

As a result of the event, our exposition was awarded an honorary diploma of the festival for the preparation of pilaf — a dish included in the UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage List.

The mayor of the municipality of Fresno de la Vega Antonio Lozano noted that the participation of Uzbekistan in the festival gave a special flavor to the event, since gastronomic tourism is one of the main factors of tourist attractiveness of this region of Spain.

“Uzbekistan is known in the world not only as the“ Heart of the Great Silk Road ”, but also as the birthplace of unique national cuisine and unsurpassed hospitality,” he emphasized.
