Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 12 April 2019, a delegation of Uzbekistan led by Deputy Chairman of the Board of Uzbekenergo Jahongir Obidjanov took part in the international conference “Sustainable Energy in Central Asia”, organized in Brussels by the Directorate General for Energy Commission of the European Union.
During the event, the Uzbek delegation made a presentation of the “Concept for the development of the electric power industry in Uzbekistan”, in which it informed in detail about the recent changes in the energy sector of our country.
At the conference, senior representatives of European and international structures in their speeches repeatedly noted that Central Asia is not only of great interest from the point of view of energy projects, but also becomes a center of attraction for foreign investment.
As the director of the Department for Russia, Eastern Partnership and Central Asia of the European External Relations Service, Luc Devin, stressed, the new EU Strategy for Central Asia, which is scheduled for approval in mid-2019, will take on its sustainable development. In addition, the EU is carefully working on a new generation of bilateral agreements on expanded partnership and cooperation with the countries of the region, in particular with Uzbekistan.
At the session of questions and answers, the Ambassador of Uzbekistan Dilyor Khakimov gave explanations regarding the Decree of the head of our state published on 4 February 2019 “On measures to fundamentally improve the management system of the fuel and energy industry of the Republic of Uzbekistan”.
